Design and fabrication of a remote-controlled, wireless hovercraft or an ACV (Air-Cushion Vehicle) which can cruise, race, move on any track and compete. The vehicle will be tested for top-end speed, good acceleration, manoeuvrability and handling & control on a path consisting of challenging terrains like plain & rough surface, water, slope ups & slope downs, obstacles, speed breakers (bumps) & gravels.
The event consists of two rounds:
1. Qualifier Round
2. Finale (Racing Round)
Only one member will control the hover during the entire run from each participating team.
The dimensions of the hovercraft should be strictly taken into consideration and teams exceeding the given dimensions will be penalised/disqualified.
If during the run, hovercraft is jammed or trapped with any part of arena, one member of controlling team must put the hovercraft back on the last check point crossed but only after the permission of the organizers. During the process, time will continue and the time lost won’t be adjusted.
Only charging points will be provided by the organising team. Participants should carry their own charging equipment.
To prevent interference between the transmitters during the race, participants must use remote with frequency of band spectrum 2.4GHz.
Participants are strongly recommended to bring spare parts to repair damages or replace faulty parts.
Teams should have extra batteries for backup. No extra time will be given for charging the battery.
No parts of the hovercraft will be provided/arranged by the organising team in case of any damage.
Decision taken by the organising team will be final and cannot be questioned.
Any misbehaviour or violence will directly lead to disqualification from the event and all other activities of TECHNEX.
Rules are subjected to change; hence participants are advised to update themselves regularly by visiting the website. Any change will be highlighted clearly.
SHELDON has been trapped on an unknown planet in a parallel universe. In order to come back to our dimension, SHELDON has to carry a nuclear power cell and deliver it to a portal machine to open a portal. SHELDON has a remote-controlled multi-rotor (Tri-copter, Quad-copter, Hex-copter, etc) to help him escape out from there. However, the universe is collapsing and SHELDON has limited time to escape.

1. Two trials will be given for FINAL ROUND. The best will be considered.
2. Trial will be considered to end when plane touches the groundby any means.
3. Flyer can pass the GATE A and GATE B from any direction.
4. Flyer can move any where on the specified arena without disturbing the same.
5. No extra points will be given for repeating the obstacles.
6. The Sequence for completing the obstacle must be from GATE A to GATE B to BOMB DROP only.
7. Judges decision will be final at the end.

Design and construct a water propelled rocket pressurized with air to complete against various constraints in separate rounds to encounter your enemies.
• Each team should consist of maximum of 4 members.
Members can be from different institutes.
• Teams should have their own launcher, and in case they don't have, a simple launcher will be provided by Organizing Team.
(NOTE: 30 points will be provided in each round if you use your own launcher.)
• Participating team will be disqualified if any damage occurs to the launcher provided by the organizing team.
• Teams having innovative mechanism must bring their own launcher like in case of booster, multistage.
• Only one chance will be given to each team in each round.
• Launching angle to be decided by the participating team.
• Range (in meters) and time of flight (in seconds) will be measured by the organizers.
• Only members of the participating team will be allowed to launch.
• Rocket has to be launched from a fixed point on the ground using a fixed launcher.
• Distance between the launcher and the first point of contact of falling rocket with the ground will be taken as the range. In case of booster and multistage, range will be calculated with the contact of last falling part (rocket).
• Participant's model should not damage the arena or hurt any person.
• Rules & regulations of the above rounds are liable to change as per the situation.
• Any change regarding the event will be mentioned on the website and mailed to the registered participants. You are advised to visit the website regularly.
• The decision of organizing team will be final and binding on all.

This year, Axelerate’19 awaits to bewilder the drivers and perplex the pitmen in a new reality with the theme of this fall: “Reality, An Upside Down!!”. Brace yourself to be transported to a new reality and get lost in a mirage of alternate crossroads and mirror dimensions. Better to seek help from Dr. Steven Strange before entering into this arena of wonders!!!
Fabricate a radio control wireless fuel based car which must be capable of performing basic stunts and which can race against the competitors on a mud track full of obstacles.
Arena: There will be an all-terrain track, a fusion of muddy dirt-tracks and gravel bumps. The car must be ready to face rough patches and unique obstacles while throttling through the opponents maintaining its pace and control.
The width of the track will vary from 1 m to 2 m along the path.
A ramp will be provided on the track for driver to control his vehicle during the run. The height of the stand will be around 8 ft. The controlling of machine has to be done from this stand only.
Despite organizer’s efforts to keep the track’s quality intact, it is subjected to undergo wear and tear as cars run over it. The car is expected to be able to run on such a weakened track as well.
Multiple machines will race, in some of the rounds, on a single lane track at a time.
A lap of the track is completed when the machine comes back to the start-finish line.

Before proceeding with the construction of complex and strong bridges, it is essential to model it and test it performance. Now it’s your time to build your bridge model with creativity, technique and your engineering brains using noodles! So do come and be a part of this extraordinary event which will surely leave you with a marvellous experience.
To build a model bridge using common, easily available materials like Popsicle sticks, glue which can sustain maximum load, satisfying the stated constraints.
Each team can consist a maximum of 3 members. Members of a team may belong to the different institutions.
Students may not be members of more than one team.
Each team may only submit one bridge for competition.
Bridges, reports found in violation of any of the aforementioned rules will be assigned a penalty as described in the rules above. If there are egregious violations of the rules, the judges reserve the right to disqualify a team, or award zero points in any category.

To design a Goldberg’s machine capable of completing as many tasks as possible from the given set of three tasks.
Shooting a dart onto the dart board situated 1.5m away from the arena, using a dart gun.
Knocking out bowling pins situated 2m away from the arena.
Hitting a hammer on the hit hammer game machine.
Dart board will be fixed on a table 1.5 m away from the arena, height of its center being as per participant’s requirement, ranging from 30 cm to 80 cm above ground. The points will be awarded according to the region where the dart hits the dart board.
Bowling pins will be placed in the conventional manner, 2m away from the arena. The ball for hitting the pins will be provided by us only. The points will be awarded according to the number of bowling pins knocked out.

Not all mechanism in this world require motors,circuits,components etc to perform a task. Some of these problems can be resolved using the power of hydraulics as well. For an instance, we often see cranes and bulldozers being used for lifting heavy loads. Then why not induce the concept of liquid engineering in its working! Therefore Technex'19 brings before you the event Hydracs where you get a platform to implement your hydraulic knowledge. Use some wooden scraps,syringes and your creativity to build your own JCB that uses only hydraulic energy. Move your bot all around the arena and lift some loads under a particular scenario to compete in various rounds!
i. There will be 5 different rounds of increasing difficulty.
ii. The first round is qualifiers round. Top 32 teams will be selected on point’s basis for the next round.
iii. The second round is the round is of 32. Top 16 teams will be selected on points basis for the next round.
iv. The Third round is the round of 16. Top 8 teams will be selected for semi-finals on the basis of number of points earned by the teams.
v. In the semi-finals round teams will be judged on the basis of number of points earned and top 4 teams will be selected for the finals.
vi. The final round will be a point-based round. Winners will be decided on the basis of maximum number of points earned in the round.
I. Force responsible for the entire task done by the bot should be produced only bymeans of hydraulic pressure.
II. Bot’s body may be made by using wood, hardboard, aluminium, pipes, and syringes, or any other relevant material.
III. There are no height and weight restrictions for the bot.
IV. Any means of energy other than the hydraulic energy is strictly prohibited.
V. Use of motors, battery, spring, string or rubber will lead to disqualification of the bot.
VI. Team size is restricted to a maximum of four members and minimum of one member.
VII. The teams will be given a maximum of two minutes for setting up their bots before starting off the round.
VIII. All dimensions shown in the arenas are in cm.
IX. In any dispute the decision of the coordinators of the event will be the final decision.

Contaminated land means land that has a hazardous substance in or on it that
1. Has significant adverse effects on the environment; or
2. Is reasonably likely to have significant adverse effects on the environment.
People, animals and the environment can be exposed to hazardous substances on contaminated land by direct contact with contaminated soil, swallowing food or water from contaminated environment, etc. Thus causing limited use of land, corrosion that may be threatening to buildings or reduce land value, no adequate remedy is available to curb these social evils. Therefore Adhyayan invites you to get rid of this problem and provide an impactful solution that will help the community you live in.

Ms. Marvel steps up for the job. The surprise comes down hard on her as the game turns out to be "LUDO". She knows she is very unlucky and the dice rarely turns in her favour. She is in desperate need of your help to win the game.
You need to construct an autonomous robot (Super Car) that uses feed from an overhead camera and apply image processing techniques to accomplish various tasks on an arena. The Car needs to detect various elements, process them and make its way to Home region according to dice.

• Team should report at the arena 30 minutes before the start of the event.

Endurance and strength being its prime weapons, equipped with wire gashing axes, scissors, pincers and maces makes ‘indra’ feel shame. Give it your all for a warrior never rests till opponent is crushed. See you around for the largest extravaganza where victory is not granted it is earned.
Design a wired or wireless, manually controlled robot capable of overpowering its opponent in a dual combat.
• There will be two rounds, three minutes each.
• Any team that is not ready at the time specified will be disqualified.

Astrophotography involves taking photographs of any space object or any astronomical event. The competition tests the capturing and post-processing skills of the participants.
This event consists of an online round. Participants have to send their astrophotography entries(maximum 3) to [email protected]
a) Entrants must belong to the age-group of 15-30 years.
b) Entrants may submit up to three separate entries to the Astrophotography Competition.
c) By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the competition Rules, and warrants that they have secured the permission of the copyright owner (if not themselves) to enter the image into the competition and confirm(s) that the photo:
(i) Was taken and processed by you, or by a group of which you are an active participant.
(ii) Does not infringe the copyright or any other rights of any third party.
d) Digitally enhanced, composites are eligible for entry to the competition, but original(raw) Photos must be attached with the entry. Details about your processing method will be asked if your photo is shortlisted for a prize.
Participants have to register on the Technex website(https://www.technex.in) and send their entries to the email mentioned above. Any further information will be notified to the participants by email.
If your photo is shortlisted, we will contact you via the email address you provided on the online entry form and ask you to:
a) Supply a high-resolution version of your photo. This must be exactly the same image as the one originally entered, albeit a larger version. No retouching or altering of the image is permitted after the image has been shortlisted.
b) Supply any missing information about your image, if needed.
c) Declare if your photo has been digitally manipulated and, if so, supply details of the processing method.
A)The Astronomy Club is dedicated to supporting public understanding and education of science. The images submitted to the Astrophotography Competition serve as key resources to promote astronomy photography in practice and in order for us to do this we need to be able to use your image(s) in certain ways.
B) Entrants will retain copyright and moral rights in their submitted images. In all instances, the copyright holder will be credited, wherever practicable, when the image is used and published by the Astronomy Club, IIT(BHU), Varanasi. We will use your first and last name as supplied during the entry process. Although we will always supply the correct information to third parties (for example to press/ media), it cannot accept responsibility for any credit line errors or omissions by these parties.
C)By entering, all entrants grant the Astronomy Club a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, and publish in perpetuity, each image entered into the competition:
i. In exhibition displays, in relation to both the Astrophotography Competition and exhibition and related future exhibitions and displays.
ii. In promotional, press and marketing materials to promote and publicize the competition and exhibition, as well as future related exhibitions, and more generally to promote the understanding of astronomy in general terms as it fits.
iii. In publications about the Astrophotography Competition and exhibition and future related exhibitions.
iv. Please do not submit your contribution to the competition if you do not wish to grant these rights to the Astronomy Club,IIT (BHU), Varanasi.
a) The Astronomy Club, IIT-(BHU), Varanasi will be the Judging Panel.
b) Judging will be based on technical skills, artistic merit and originality of the entries sent. Along with the processed one we will also consider the raw images for judging. Judging on raw images will be based on the change which you bought after processing.
c) Top entries will be displayed in the exhibition hosted by the Astronomy Club IIT-(BHU) during TECHNEX '19. The entrieswill also be posted on the Facebook page of Astronomy Club, IIT (BHU) during the fest. Audience response will be notedfor each entry which will add to the bonus points.
d) Judging criteria and distribution: (¡)Technical skills, artistic merit and Originality- 90% or the quality of processed photo 90%If both are methods are chosen then best of those two will be considered. (¡¡)Audience response- 10%
e) Decision of The Astronomy Club, IIT-(BHU) will be final and binding to all.
f) Winners will be announced on the official TECHNEX '19 website during the fest and they will be notified about it through email.

As the name suggests, it is a quizzing competition to test participant’s theoretical knowledge in astronomy and astrophysics.
It would consist of three rounds:
1. First Round: This round will be an online event consisting of MCQ based questions aimed at testing the basic astronomy and astrophysics knowledge of a team. The shortlisted teams will participate in the Astro-quiz On-campus Event during Technex’19.
2. Second Round: The second round will be a pen-paper based test.
3. Third Round: This round will be conducted by Quiz Master of Astronomy Club IIT (BHU), and details will be introduced by them at the time of the event.
1. A maximum number of 3 participants per team can register. However, they need not be of same college/University.
2. No changes in the team structure would be allowed after registration.
3. Use of any electronic gadget is strictly prohibited.
4. The decision taken by the judges will be considered as final and will be abiding by all participants. 5. Participation/Appreciation Certificate will be awarded only to those who qualify for the second round of the quiz.

Exploring The Interstellar is a sky gazing competition. Where participants have to correctly locate stars and other space objects with their telescopes. This test their exploring and telescope handling skills.
This event consists of three rounds:
1. Round 1:
This round will be a preliminary Question-Answer round testing the knowledge of participating teams in the field of observational astronomy.
2. Round 2:
In this round, Simulation of a Sky will be projected on the Planetarium dome; based on the projection and sky features questions will be asked. Participants will be required to make few calculations and logical deductions, based on that answer marking will be done and top eight teams will proceed to the final round.
Note: Sky can be of anywhere on earth, any planet or moon.
3. Round 3:
In this round, the participating teams will be provided with a 6" Newtonian telescope to locate a set of celestial objects in a given time slot. These objects could be Messier objects, planets or any other commonly visible celestial body. Teams will be provided messier catalog. Teams will be given 10-15 minutes to locate the given set of objects. This will be followed by viva of the teams by the esteemed panel appointed by Astronomy Club IIT (BHU).
● Maximum 3 members can participate in a team.
● Intercollege teams are allowed.
Rules for Round I and Round 2:
● No Team shall be allowed to enter after 15 minutes of starting the Q/A round.
● Use of unfair means in any form will lead to disqualification from the event.
● The medium of Question-answer round will be in English.
● The decision of the judges shall be final and abiding by all teams.
Rules for Round 3:
● Teams will be provided telescope aligned. During the event, if the alignment of eyepiece and finder is disturbed then teams will have to align themselves.
● Astronomy Club reserves right to ask for compensation in case of any damage to the telescope or any belongings of the club by the participants during the event.
● Use of personal gadgets/ mobile torches is not allowed.
● In the case of cloudy weather conditions, Astronomy Club has a buffer day and event will be shifted to the next day with the same timings. However, in the case of persisting bad weather, Astronomy club will make the necessary arrangement to modify event structure.
● In case of dispute or disagreement, the decision of The Astronomy Club, IIT (BHU), Varanasi will be final and abiding.
● We reserve the rights to change the rules as per the needs.
● Use of calculator/electronic gadgets in strictly prohibited unless directed by Astronomy Club.

This is a case study event. Challenges are to be solved by participants using the proper application of their skills and giving innovative ideas. Participants are given a series of tasks to solve using their technical and deductive skills.
In a distant galaxy lying deep in the interstellar space, there existed a planetary system quite similar to ours. Of all the planets in that system, life only existed on a planet named "Utopia." Utopia was inhabited by the species of "Reus." The civilization on Utopia considers their star “Helios,” as the source of life itself; and worships it every year. With time the Reus civilization made many technological advancements and realized that Helios is something more than a deity, it has a lot more to explore. So, the Reus civilization is on an expedition to uncover the mysteries of their star, and they need your help. As they are as advanced as the human civilization, they believe that seeking help from us is a good idea.
But they face a series of problems in their way, as they want to do it in minimum time (and it has to be less than one year) and also make it as economical as possible.
The scientists are determined to do this in one go, so they want to simulate all the various possibilities of what could go wrong in the mission and eliminate those possibilities with efficiency.
So your task is to help this team of scientists in their expedition, taking into consideration all the aspects of the mission.

The Event consists of two rounds:-
Round 1: For this round participant need to prepare a report and submit it via their registered email id before the mentioned deadline. The format for the report and submission details are provided below. The Problem Statement for 1st round is provided above. The results of this round will be conveyed to the participants on their registered email id.
Round 2: This round is a presentation round. Participants who have cleared the first round will be required to prepare a presentation for the Problem Statement of the 2nd round that will be held during Technex at IIT (BHU), Varanasi. The Problem Statement for the second round is yet to be released.
1. First Round deadline for submission- Monday, 4 th February 2019. No submissions after this shall be entertained.
2. The solutions should be MAILED in the format mentioned below to [email protected]
3. The subject of the mail should be "UTOPIA#1_<TEAM_NAME>" where TEAM_NAME is the one you have registered with.
4. The solution should be mailed in PDF format only. The name of the file should be "UTOPIA#1_<TEAM_NAME>_SOLUTION" Language should be ENGLISH only.
5. The maximum permissible number of members in a participating team is 4 and must belong to the same institute/ college/ university.
6. The format is as follows:
a. Team name, Details of Team Members (Name, Contact number) and College Name should be clearly mentioned in the first page.
b. Solutions should be brief and to the point. The challenges encountered should be mentioned. Any figures, diagrams (well labeled) and charts mentioned should be properly referenced in the text.
c. If you feel the figures, diagrams and/or charts are losing detail while scaling down in PDF, feel free to attach a .ZIP or .RAR file with the solution. The file should be named
d. Highlight the innovation in your solution.
e. The solution should not exceed 10 pages.
f. At most three submissions shall be entertained. In case of more than one solutions, the latest one would be considered.
7. The Decision of the judges shall be final and binding. No queries shall be entertained in this regard.
